I need to vent this. One of the more (most?) frustrating points about working with the elderly is you CANNOT defend yourself verbally. They can call you every name in the book, and you have to take it. Just stand there and feel all that venom chip at your inner peace and energy until your tongue is bleeding from biting back retorts and you're exhausted from this daily abuse.
I'm NOT in any way advocating elder abuse, for the record. Not. At. All. I just needed to get that out.
